July 5, 1991 Dear Grandmama, Today we rode from Dubois to Riverton — 80 miles. The first 40 miles flew by. The second half was slow: we had our first flat tire but Duc quickly fixed it. We had to go under the road bridge for shade when we needed a break. Riverton is a wonderful town! Even has a K-Mart. We stayed at Rudy’s Camper Court right in the middle of town. Actually, we set up our tent in her backyard. Beautiful green, soft grass and the nicest woman. We met another cyclist named Chris from New York. He camped right beside us. He was very friendly. He’s cycling by himself around the USA. We shared information about the route since he was headed west. Duc and I went to a laundromat, then went to supper and a movie with Chris. We saw “Robin Hood.” A funny movie. It was a nice and relaxing afternoon and evening. After the movie, we went to the grocery — we’re on our second bottle of sunscreen. Love, Paula |
