July 10, 1991 Dear Grandmama, We are still at the bed & breakfast. This day off has been really good. We slept in a little and I took a nap in the PM and feel well rested and ready to go. This morning, Diane Griffin, who is renovating this house, made us breakfast. Cream of rice and toast. Duc and I just looked at each other. Not our idea of breakfast. Anyhow, she promises pancakes tomorrow. We drove our rented car to Mt. Rushmore. That area has become a real tourist trap. We were going to the Crazy Horse monument, but it was $8 so we left. Ate lunch in Custer and went to the museum. Then came back to Newcastle, napped and went to Pizza Hut with Diane and her daughter, Angela. The road to Custer is narrow and crowded so we changed our route. We are heading back south again to Lusk and then east to Crawford, Neb. There was a bad storm this PM so I’m glad we aren’t camping.
