July 14, 1998 Hi Brenda & Bill, Today was Booneville to Berea for 60 miles. It was pretty easy ride after the mountains. A few steep hills but a lot of flat riding by the creeks. Not many stores. Pretty empty forested land. Only stopped twice. It was overcast, sprinkled most of the time but no real rain. Made it to Berea about 1:30 and are staying at the Morning Glory B&B. Our room is above the Colmers’ studio. He is a weaver and she is a dollmaker. Beautiful things. The place was almost destroyed in a tornado in ’96. Furnished with his weavings and Berea crafts. He knows Chris Bischoff, the friend I saw in Hindman! We walked around town, ate Mexican, did laundry. Tomorrow we get to see the boys! It’s been a great vacation. Love, Paula.
